Ever wanted to buy something online and have it delivered within an hour of purchase? For some people in London, this is now possible. Amazon is launching a one-hour delivery service, Prime Now , offering high-speed deliveries of selected items to customers in East and Central London.

The service is for Amazon Prime subscribers only , costs £6.99 (around R$35) and is only valid for canadacell numbers over £20 (around R$99). A second, free, same-day delivery option is also available, but delivery takes around two hours. North, south and west London are not currently covered by the service.

Same-day delivery is not just a new advantage that Amazon is offering its customers, it is a way to fight against the competition, especially with stores that sell online and offer product pickup in their physical stores.

The service was first rolled out in London, but there are already plans to expand to other cities in the UK. Amazon launched Prime Now in New York in December 2014 and has already rolled out the delivery service in other US cities such as Dallas and Miami.

Along with the service there is also a smartphone app where the customer can check whether their home is within the one-hour delivery area and which products are available.
